I was thrilled to have Sophia back in the studio to celebrate her 4th birthday! She has grown and changed a lot since her last birthday shoot which you can catch here. Sophia really loves princesses, and asked if we could start her photo shoot in her favorite princess dress.

She humored me, and modelled the “Warhol” dress I made from a t-shirt. I am not a sewer, so if I can make this dress, anyone can do it! Dana Made It has an amazing tutorial (along with other goodies) on her blog and you can read all of the details on how you can make your own t-shirt dress here. As a first time sewer, I was just glad it stayed together. I think Sophia looks fabulous in it!

Four has also made her a little serious.

But not for long!

Sophia is a big sister to Ella, who also came along to the shoot. Both of them will be big sisters in June as they are expecting another baby! So exciting!!

and sweet.

Bribes almost always work when it comes to photo sessions. Sometimes it’s a special lunch afterwards, sometimes a goodie, but really all Sophia wanted was balloons. And they made her the happiest!Really happy :)

Happy birthday sweet girl.

This handsome little man stopped by the studio to capture images celebrating his first birthday. His parents wrote that he is a “very happy boy and makes them laugh all the time”. They were hoping to capture images of both his happy, “goofy” side along with his serious side.

I think we got it :)

He was a little unsure at the beginning of our session, his parents mentioned it may take him a little time to warm up to new situations.  He is after all only 13 months old.

I said that we would probably be best friends in 5 minutes, and this is at about the 5 minute mark. You can just tell he is thinking something a little devilish here.

And here he comes!!

He got me!

Well not so much me, as the back of the camera. He really enjoyed seeing how the image turned out after each shot. I almost needed two cameras, one to take the image, and another to capture him looking at the image we just caught. The faces he gave were priceless!

Not only does he having amazing big brown eyes, but look at those locks! I love that his mom is keeping his hair long, too cute!!

Mom says her little man is going to be a doctor when he grows up. It looks like he is going to be an excellent student.

with a silly side :)

Looks like he is pretty happy being one!

I. LOVE. This. Period.

There’s nothing cuter than baby bums. Seriously.

Cheeky. Monkey.

“The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing”.  – author unknown

The message Cathy and Josh were hoping to convey through their images was “the importance of family”. Their oldest daughter Sienna (16 months) received a photo session from her Aunt and Uncle as a birthday gift. When her mother Cathy let me know she was expecting we decided to hold off until Kiera (2 1/2 weeks) was born. We were hoping to catch the new sisters together, and while that proved to be a challenge, we were able to capture this great family image.

Sienna’s parents described her as “spirited” and “very sociable”, but we just couldn’t seem to bring that out of her during our time together ;). She is however very fond of her teddy.

Kiera’s personality is still in the early stages, but she is certainly content to snuggle and offer up these adorable little happy smiles. Too sweet!

I made her newborn crown specifically for this session and I think it turned out pretty great.

If you would like to make one (or five) of your own please hop over to my DIY tutorial here.

I am a huge fan of natural posing. For me, it is the only way to capture true personality and emotion. I love that we could capture such a special and precious moment between daddy and his little girl.

This young family will be extra busy with 2 girls under two at home,  but the bond and closeness these sisters will share just might be the importance Josh and Cathy were hoping for.

If  you know someone who appreciates the “Art of Portraiture” and would love the gift of a photo session, please email me at stephanie@stephaniepasutto.com for more information on gift certificates.
