Two of my favorite “cool” kids are back in town. They are home from the Middle East to celebrate a “not so white” Christmas. But that’s ok with dad as that means less shovelling!

You may remember Clark + Lucy from their session in the summer. They were the uber cool two rockin the aviators in style. (say that 3 times fast!) In case you missed it, (or you would like to view it again) you can catch up with them here. They are always super fun kids to work with and this time they brought along their mom + dad (who are equally cool).

My main objective with each session is to capture true personalities, which is why I seldom ask for poses. Clark + Lucy are sooo comfortable in front of the camera and make my job a breeze. There is one image however, that I did pose. I kept the inspiration for the “All Wrapped Up” image for the right client , and when I heard these two were back in town I knew the timing was right….and of course they nailed it!!

Thank you all for coming to see me and for spreading some Christmas cheer while you are back home :)

This is Stephanie and she thinks kids are AWESOME, super awesome.

In 2010 she left a career in the new home industry to become a portrait photographer specializing in kids. You won’t find any scary flashes or laser shooting backgrounds in her home studio, just her camera, her extra large windows and good music.

Stephanie’s images have been on the cover of magazines and she’s won international awards , but she’ll tell you her biggest win is her family. She is the mother of 2 awesome boys (just ask her she’ll tell you) and the wife of a super supportive husband.

She knows first hand how hard it can be to photograph your own children, which is why her clients trust her to capture great images of their kids. She has a knack for capturing a child’s true personality in a natural environment that is more like a play date than a chore.

Stephanie is a DIY’r, a party planner and she’s never had a Big Mac.  She is also holding onto her 30’s for dear life and she can’t live without lip gloss.

When she’s not writing about herself in the third person, Stephanie can be found driving her boys to various sporting activities and dreaming of a day when everyone will wave when you let them in ahead of you in traffic.

This was an extra special session for me.

This particular session marks my one year anniversary as a photographer, and I was able to celebrate it with a friend.

I was so fortunate to capture my dear friend Ramona’s pregnancy, Ella when she was a newborn, at 3 months and now at nearly one year. You can watch her grow over the last year here and here. We wanted to celebrate her first birthday with a cake smash. Ramona made an adorable polka dot garland along with a super cute and easy to make DIY tulle skirt. She picked up an extra large signature cupcake from Hey Cupcake in Sherwood Park and we were off. Sort of.

While Ella and the look of our birthday session were picture perfect, Ella wasn’t really “happy” about smashing her cake.

But she did something even more special…..

She took her very first steps on her own and we were able to catch it all!!

Here she is showing us how proud she is to be ONE!!
I think she has a future as a tiny ballerina

We were able to capture a “few” images of her enjoying her birthday cupcake.

It is amazing how much change can happen in one year.  I am thrilled + honored to have been able to share a small part in Ella’s first year.

It’s like Deja Vu all over again – Yogi Berra

Yes these two cuties may look familiar to you. They both celebrated birthdays in May of this year. We had fun with cupcakes and chocolate mustaches and if you missed it, you can catch up on all of the sugary goodness here and here. It is amazing how much can change in as little as 6 months. Cade is still a rock star model with endless poses and keeps me on my toes. He is taking Jiu Jitsu, playing hockey, and still fits in time for preschool. That’s a busy 4 1/2 year old! Siri is a super smart 18 month old. During our session she sang Christina Aguilera’s part in Moves Like Jagger. She can sing her ABC’s and says more words than any child that age that I know! That’s a lot of learning in a short period of time. Both of these kids are so fun to work with and it has been so awesome watching them grow.
